The Reveal!

Welcome to the little picture tour of 'La Casa de la Pearson's'!!  I mostly am posting these so my parents can see what our new house looks like (since they're 500 miles away in DC), but I figured you all might enjoy a little tour as well!   So, welcome to our home!  (Keep in mind that these pictures are before we did any work on the house or moved any of our belongings in!  So, no, those lovely golden light fixtures will NOT be staying... sorry grandma.)

There you go!  We are totally in love with this house (it also helps that we got a pretty great deal on it too!).  We have a laundry list of things that we plan to do in the house so it's time to get down and dirty!  Bring on the long days of moving furniture, working on the flooring, changing light fixtures, fixing water leaks or plumbing issues etc.  We're ready.  We've been waiting for this day and we're ready to tackle these projects like a pair of 300 pound linebackers.  If you're in the area, feel free to join in on all of the wonderful festivities we have planned!

Bye for now,

Stephanie P.

Reading Nook Essentials

Let the countdown begin!

In t-minus 2 DAYS we should be receiving the keys to our NEW HOUSE! So excited for this process to finally come to an end and to finally get into our house to paint, possibly put in wood floors, and move all of our stuff in. It has been a long, drawn out process and we have been anticipating this day for about a month now! In the new place, as you walk into the front door, the living room is on your left and then there's this little room (that was previously used as a formal dining area, which we have no intention of using as so) to the right. I have decided that it would be nice to have a nice reading nook with a little extra seating for guest to hang out or for us to have a nice warm cup of coffee in the morning. Here's the plan (or something like it)...
Reading Nook Essentials

Obviously a trip to IKEA is a must. That is where I plan to pick up the bookcase, chair, and baskets to put in a few of the slots on the bookcase. Add a nice southwestern-style rug and a few cute accent pieces and you're set!

Stay tuned for more crafts and room designs (I'm sure a few more rooms will need planning out before we actually move everything into them)!

Much love,

Stephanie P.

Pinterest Picks.

Happy Friday!!

Adam and I have been given some promising news!  If all goes according to planned (which I'm slowly learning that nothing does when a foreclosed home is in the picture), we should be closing on our NEW HOUSE sometime next week!  Yea, that's right... NEXT WEEK!  (can you tell I'm excited?!?)

In light of our news, I've decided to leave you with a few projects that I plan on tackling for the new place.  Hopefully these ideas will inspire you to do something creative/crafty this weekend too.  (all of the links and tutorials to these projects can be found on my pinterest account HERE)

 {Chalkboards made from old trays, Lamp revamp}

 {DIY photo canvases, Hemp lamp shades}

 {House number wreath, Scrabble letter pillows}

Hopefully I'll be able to post pictures of the final projects once they are complete!  Have a great weekend!  (I plan on making my way to a few garage sales this weekend to find some goodies for our house... wish me luck!)

Much love,

Stephanie P.

Inspired by

For those of you who don't know, Adam and I are currently in the process of closing on our FIRST HOUSE!  We are so extremely excited for what the future holds for us in our new house (which will hopefully be ours in the next week or so).  We all know what comes along with buying a new place.... DECORATING!  There's nothing more excited to me than possibiliy.  There are soo many possibilities when it comes to decorating a new space to make it your own.  To help keep my mind off of the stresses of closing on a foreclosed home and to keep me from sitting on the couch all day just waiting for a phone call from our realtor telling me, "Today's the day!,"  I've been preoccupying myself by searching for decorating inspiration in stores, onling, and on my favorite site, Pinterest  (If you haven't heard of pinterest, I highly recommend it!  Check it out.).  I've been working on a few little projects here and there, so I decided I would post some ideas on here to hopefully inspire some of you all too.  While I was on Pinterest I saw this living room set-up and fell in love with the geometric artwork.

I was thinking to myself, "hmm... that looks pretty simple.  I bet I could make something like that!"  So, I did.

{Step 1: Gather materials to draw a grid on the canvas}

{Step 2:  Draw Grid}
The measurements will obviously differ depending on what size canvas you use, but I did three equal sections on the right side to make the equal squares, then sort of freehanded the little section on the left.

{Step 3:  Choose your paint colors.}
I wanted the painting to match the colors in our front 'reading room' at the new house so I chose black, white, mint green, coral, a light peachy color, and a touch of gold!

{Step 4:  Paint away!}

{The finished product hanging on our wall!}

I cannot wait to find the perfect spot in our new 'reading room' for this painting.  Hope you like it.  Stay tuned for some more craft ideas, room inspiration, and house updates!

Much love,

Stephanie P.
