Final Four Fashion

As many of you know, the Final Four is just around the corner!  It's the perfect season to be in a place like Kentucky, where the town basically shuts down during any UK game (basketball or even football)!  With UK in the Final Four (AGAIN!!) this year, I cannot wait until the games start!  While we anxiously await the tip off of the last four basketball teams left in the league, check out a few outfits I put together in each teams' honor.

Featured Designer: Birdie Num Num

I was wandering around on Etsy today and came across the work of Tati, a desiner based out of Valparaíso, Chile.  Her shop birdie num num is quite the catch.  I love how she works with the jersey fabric and twists it beautifully together to make awesome necklaces and headbands.  I mean seriously, who knew jersey fabric could look so stylish?!  I am currently drooling over the nautical knot necklace.  It would be just perfect paired with a bright colored dress or a tank top and jeans.  I'm also loving the cute ways you can wear the longer necklaces pictured above and the simple touches of color to brighten up any ensemble.

Head on over to Tati's Etsy Shop to view more of her creations.

Amazima Ministries

While I was playing around online today I stumbled upon this video and thought I would share it with you all.  It's about this girl named Katie who gave up everything at the young age of 19 to minister to young children in Uganda.  Katie now has 12 kids of her own (who she has adopted from Uganda) and ministers to many other youn children through educational and feeding programs.  It's such an inspirational story of how God can work in and through broken and imperfect humans to change our world for the better. Check out more of Katie's journey in Uganda and how you can help HERE.

The Madness of March

UK

Who said you have to wear the same drab university tee, jeans, and sneakers while you root for your favorite team during March Madness?!  Trade your manly tshirts and ripped up jeans for staple items in your team's colors this year and cheer them on in style.  And, a word from the wise, go ahead and throw your powdery-blue, orange, green, gold and red away while your at it.  : )  Cats all the way baby [read in your best Dicky V. voice]!!

I'm outta here for now.  Gotta see how my brackets are holding up!

HAPPY MONTH OF MADNESS!

Color Crave.

{art}

Lovely pastels to get your weekend started off with a little spring flavor.  I love the abstract artwork by Michelle Armas.  You can explore more of her work here.

On another note... HAPPY WEEKEND EVERYONE!!!  Any big plans for the weekend?  I imagine I will have a weekend full of cleaning, baking, jogs outside in this beautiful weather, and a few bonfires with our friends who are coming into town for a visit!  Cannot wait.  It's gonna be a good one.

More crocheting.

This past weekend was time well spent.  I love my family and enjoy every second I get to spend with them, especially because my parents and one of my brothers live 9 hours away and I rarely get to see them.  Luckily, my brother and sister-in-law have 2 kids, which have been the reason for our little weekend get-togethers the past few times we've all seen each other!  Saturday evening, while the kids were in bed, my sister-in-law and I decided to have a little craft night of our own.  I decided to make these cute little crocheted hair bows for my niece, Emily.  They turned out pretty cute, and the cuteness factor bumps up at least 10 x's when they're in her pretty curly hair!  Catherine, my sister-in-law, decided to make a variety of flowers and bows out of fabric, ribbon, and felt to add to hair clips.

She followed a few tutorials that she found via Pinterest.  I love how they all turned out; it's hard to pick a favorite!  Let's just say that Emily's curly hair will not go sans cute little hair adornments for a while!

I'm so not used to having to ward off little monsters like this while crocheting.  But I'm not complaining.

(Look at him, just walking EVERYWHERE now!  So precious.)

Enjoy the rest of your week!

Just call me grandma.

As of late, I've been completely obsessing about crocheting.  I know, I know.  Go ahead, call me a grandma.  I used to think the same thing.  But, hold your horses cowboy.  Did you see those cute little hats with ears, or the cute little flower on the ear warmer?!  How adorable are they?!  Who wouldn't want their little kid to have handmade booties?!  My eyes have been opened.  I have now opened up a complete new crafting door that leads to this lovely realm of crocheting!  I have already tackled two projects (the ear warmer and one version of an infinity scarf) and I must say, I'm starting to get the hang of it!  I have now completed 7, count 'em 7, infinity scarves and two ear warmers with flowers on them.   My next project to attempt is a toddler hat with a little bow or flower on it.  I'm trying to become a pro at it so I can sell some at the next Arts & Crafts Festival that's near us!  Kind of daunting to think about doing my first ever craft festival, but I'm sure I'll love it once I get the chance to have some experience!  It always seems so scary when you try something new and, most of the time, it turns out even better than you expected!  So, let's keep our fingers crossed!

On another note, I get to see my family this weekend!!!  Sooo excited to celebrate my nephew's first birthday with the entire family up in Indiana!  Let's just hope these storms that are supposed to hit central KY don't interfere with our weekend plans!

HAPPY FRIDAY!  Enjoy your weekend!
